Brane (physics)
Brane - Many mathematicians and astrophysicist considering the existence of other universes must entertain the possibility of more than one realms that the four we know as spacetime , the three dimensional and the fourth time proposed by Einstein.
More than four dimensional
In one version of string theory, physicists allow for eleven dimensions, including seven remain imperceptibly "curled up".
The visible universe could be a four dimensional membrane or Brane for short, moving through unseen dimensions. Other Branes or parallel universe may also exist in fifth dimension that we cannot perceive.

Some scientists propose that our would be universe existed as a Brane into which another Brane collided in a uniform fashion, generating the heat energy and expansion accounted for in the big bang .
But these theories are now exist in the mathematical modals, which requires a additional investigation.
P Branes
There are higher dimensional objects in string theory with dimensions from zero (points) to nine, called p-branes. In terms of branes, what we usually call a membrane would be a two-brane, a string is called a one-brane and a point is called a zero-brane.
D Branes
D-branes are actually dynamical objects which have fluctuations and can move around. For example they interact with gravity. In the diagram below we see one way in which an closed string (graviton) can interact with a D2-brane. Notice how the closed string becomes an open string with endpoints on the D-brane at the intermediate point in the interaction.
Glossary : string theory--- Any of a number of theories in particle physics that treat elementary particles as infinitesimal one-dimensional "stringlike"
objects rather than dimensionless points in space time.
